Rachel Patrick, violin
Violinist, Rachel Patrick leads a versatile musical life as both a performer and teaching artist. Recent performances include the German premier of Tan Dun’s “Hero” Concerto with the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra, performances of Kevin Puts’ Violin Concerto, and the premier recording with Sinfonia Varsovia of David Canfield’s Rhapsody after Gershwin, a piece written for and dedicated to her. She has recorded solo and chamber music albums for the Enharmonic, Crystal, Albany, and Toccata Classics labels. Rachel also frequently performs around the Bay Area and particularly enjoys performing chamber and contemporary music. Rachel also held the post of concertmaster with the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra in Germany from 2009-2012, participating in international tours and collaborations, including internationally broadcast performances with Lang Lang and Herbie Hancock in Berlin. A native of Bloomington, Indiana, Rachel began her musical studies at the age of three with Mimi Zweig. She completed her studies at the University of Michigan and Indiana University studying with Alexander Kerr. Also a passionate educator, Rachel runs a thriving private studio in Oakland and frequently guest teaches and lectures in string pedagogy.
